Alpha has expanded its wide range of off-the-shelf products to meet customer requirements.
To support the requirements for more flexible attachment hardware options, Alpha has revised the QuickSet series to the New QT series. The QT series heat sinks utilize our new Torsion Spring attachment hardware. The Torsion Springs are captive to the heat sink and mount to our existing Anchor Pins (ANCR-8, 11, 12, 13, 16). The Anchor Pins are mounted through 1.80mm diameter holes in the backside of the PCB, taking up a bare minimum of PCB real estate. The Torsion Springs will be offered in 3 different wire diameters. This, along with the different Anchor pin lengths, will allow our customers to target a desired attachment force.
The Torsion Spring is innovative in that no additional wire clip is required, so it can be located anywhere within the heat sink footprint without regard to airflow direction or fin spacing. Simple fin removal is all that is required to accommodate the location of the Torsion Spring. The Torsion Spring is self-contained and provides both the attachment force and mounting hardware in a single unit. A simple mounting procedure will lock the Torsion Spring to the Anchor Pin and generate the attachment force. A minimum of 2 Torsion Springs are required per heat sink.
Alpha will initially offer the QTL and QTU series heat sinks with fixed Torsion Spring/Anchor Pin locations. However, semi-custom heat sinks can easily be created with customer specified Torsion Spring/Anchor Pin locations.
